Nawadankulama Tank

Another beautiful water-body, the Nawadankulama Tank is found in Anawilundawa and is also a RAMSAR wetland which comprises nine tanks that are linked to form a distinctive system of irrigation in the area that bring in many interesting species of bird that can be observed, including migrant ducks.

Some of the bird species that can be seen here are; The Black-backed Yellow Woodpecker, Brown Fish Owl, Blue-faced Malkoha, Cotton Teal, Collared Dove, Crested Tree Swift, Gargeney or dabbling duck, Little Grebe, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Common Coot, Crested Hawk Eagle, White-bellied Sea Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Golden-backed Woodpecker, Indian Grey Partridge, Orange-breasted Green Pigeon, Osprey, Purple Heron, Wood Sandpiper, Grey Heron, Indian Pitta, and so much more.
